The MJCCA Offers Mindful Meditation Program To Community
The Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta (MJCCA) is pleased to announce a new Wellness program that is open to members and nonmembers, beginning in February, at the Zaban Park campus (5342 Tilly Mill Rd., Dunwoody).
Jewish Mindful Meditation, begins on Tuesday, February 6, and is being taught by renowned instructor and Chaplain, Marita Anderson. Trained at the Academy for Jewish Religion in California, Anderson maintains a popular following of men and women across the country, who are interested in creating an effective and impactful mindfulness meditation practice. The six-session class is scheduled on consecutive Tuesdays, from February 6 – March 13, from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm, and is for beginners and experienced meditators who want to refresh the fundamentals of their practice. Participants will learn to develop focused attention, compassion for others, and spiritual resilience. The program is open to MJCCA members and non-members. The cost is $100 for MJCCA members, and $125 for the Community.
Anderson has served as Chaplain Intern at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, where she provided spiritual care to families in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. She also served as an Interfaith Chaplain at Cedar’s Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. For the past five years, Anderson has been practicing different modalities of Jewish and mindfulness meditation, and has participated in a teacher training course at The Osher Center for Integrative Medicine, at Vanderbilt Medical Center. She teaches from her own practice, which includes developing focused attention, compassion, and spiritual resilience.
