The MJCCA and Full Radius Dance Present the 13th Annual Modern Atlanta Dance Festival
This exciting festival offers a unique opportunity to
experience work by some of Metro Atlanta's finest dance artists and companies.
Performances are Saturday, June 2 at 8:30 p.m., and Sunday, June 3 at 7:00 p.m.
Participants in the 2007 Modern Atlanta
Dance Festival:
- Choreographer Nicole Wesley presents "thirty", a humorous group dance about
women turning 30. - Ivan
Pulinkala's "Anchovy in Oil" is a clever, playful and colorful duet
featuring dynamic partnering. - Duende
Dance Theatre explores the concept of finding your voice as an
individual and within a community in Amanda Exely Lower's "Dig Deep." - Set to a selection of jazz standards, "Girlie,"
choreographed by Annette Lewis and performed by Good Moves Moving On, celebrates young women discovering their beauty,
both real and superficial. - Susan
Eldridge's group work "rearing" looks at behavioral expectations,
discipline and possible connections to addiction. - Festival host Full Radius Dance will perform "Sideshow," a quartet inspired by
the traveling sideshow exhibitions of ‘freaks and human oddities'.
The Modern Atlanta Dance Festival offers performance
opportunities to individual artists and dance companies in Metropolitan
Atlanta. The MAD Festival, first presented in 1995, is Atlanta's only professionally adjudicated
modern/contemporary dance event. More than fifty different metro-Atlanta
individual artists and/or companies have been presented on the MAD Festival
stage.
